passing natural turn 또는 open natural turn의 용어정리

단체반 레슨에서 같은 움직임인데,

어느 경우에는 passing natural turn이라고 하고  또 어떤 때는 open natural turn이라고 한다.

춤을 배우는데 춤만 잘 추면되지 피겨 이름이 뭐 중요한가?

라고 하는 사람도 있을 수 있지만 또 궁즘증이 많은 사람은 이러한 사소한 것에도 목숨걸고 알아보려고 하는 사람도 있다.

이제 위 2 가지 명칭에 대하여 알아보자.

어떤 영문 자료에 보면 다음과 같은 설명이 있다.

The Open Natural Turn from PP or Passing Natural Turn from PP is an adaptation of the Foxtrot Natural Turn from Promenade Position. As there is no Promenade Position in the ISTD syllabus, this figure is only part of the IDTA syllabus. However, in our older Editions of The Revised Technique, it is mentioned in passing as a Foxtrot Natural Turn, used as a possible exit figure for an Open Telemark. This suggests to us that the Open Natural Turn from PP was a common figure familiar to most dancers.

PP로부터 ‘Open Natural Turn’ 또는 PP에서 ‘Passing Natural Turn’은 Promenade Position에서 Foxtrot Natural Turn를 응용한 것이다. ISTD 교과목에는 Promenade Position이 없으므로 이 피겨는 IDTA 교과목의 일부일 뿐이다. 그러나 개정 된 기술의 이전 버전에서는 Foxtrot Natural Turn으로 언급되는데, Open Telemark의 가능한 후행(속행) 피겨로 사용된다. 이것은 PP로부터 Open Natural Turn은 대부분의 댄서들에게 친숙한 공통적인 피겨라는 것을 말해 준다.

위 설명에 의하면 2 피겨는 다른 이름이지만 같은 피겨인 것을 알 수 있다.

즉 이명(異名)  동의어(同義語)라는 말이다.
